Autumn at Plas Pilipala

Ardd Fotaneg · Botanic Garden

The leaves are changing, the mornings are crisp and trees are dropping their nuts; autumn has truly arrived here at the Garden. However Plas Pilipala has escaped the chill, with temperatures well over 20°C whatever the weather and lush tropical plants filling the house. Seasons aren’t as distinct in the tropics so the plants won’t be dropping their leaves and its business as usual for the butterflies. While it may be the perfect place to hide from the cold, there are still plenty of autumn colours to be seen in our butterflies, with rich reds, vibrant oranges and even mimics of the autumnal leaves themselves. Scroll through the slideshow above to see our top picks for autumn.

Our butterfly house has different species emerging every day, so there’s always new things to see!
