Natural Living Expo
With everything from reiki to reflexology, and crystals to tarot, the Natural Living Expo is a one-stop shop for a healthy and holistic life.
The event returns to the National Botanic Garden of Wales on Saturday and Sunday July 8th & 9th, boasting a real A-to-Z of complementary therapies.
Organiser Sarah Clark says: “We are very excited about coming back to the Garden; last year’s event was such a success.
“Natural Living Expo is a Health & Wellbeing event with over 50 stands offering holistic taster sessions in Indian Head Massage, Reflexology, Bowen Therapy also Shiatsu and hot stone massage to name but a few.”
“There will be handmade, natural soaps and beauty products, gifts and crafts as well as ‘nutrition’ stands offering plenty of expert advice and tastes of healthy foods. There will be free talks in Theatr Botanica all through the weekend and fun demonstrations that you can join in, in the courtyard near the restaurant.”
Co-organiser Jaynie Sayers says: “So why not come and learn about something new, enjoy a relaxing therapy? We are looking forward to seeing you all for a great weekend.”

Doggy Weekend
Due to huge popular demand, special dates have been earmarked in the calendar for pet owners to bring their pooches with them on a visit.
On July 8-9, visitors of the National Botanic Garden will be able to bring their dogs with them for a visit. Make a day of it at the Garden and bring man’s best friend to enjoy the Garden’s 568 acres.
And don’t forget, EVERY Monday is Doggy Day at the Garden, therefore, you can bring your dog along for a visit on July 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st!
A full list of Doggy Day rules can be seen here. Dogs are permitted in Y Pot Blodyn’s coffee shop, the Seasons Restaurant, the Gift Shop and the main concourse of the Great Glasshouse.
Dogs are not permitted on the Great Glasshouse’s inner paths, the Butterfly House, nor the children’s play area.
British Woodcarving Association
Woodcarvers in residence!
Back in the National Botanic Garden by popular demand are the British Woodcarvers’ Association who are putting on a weeklong demonstration and display.
The Woodcarvers will be in the Great Glasshouse between Saturday July 8th and Sunday July 16th.
“We always enjoy coming to the Garden,” said Derek Edwards, leader of the South Wales branch of the British Woodcarvers’ Association.
“We will be demonstrating our woodcarving for the public. There will be nothing for sale. We use these visits to increase interest in what we do and to drum up new members.”
BWA members meet regularly at similar events to carve, chat and to give and receive help and advice. The association is made up of 30 regions including South Wales.
Kate Rusby in Concert
Folk-singing superstar Kate Rusby is in concert at the National Botanic Garden of Wales on Saturday July 15th.
One of the finest interpreters of traditional folk and one of the UK’s best songwriters, Kate will be on stage at the Garden from 7.30pm.
She has been nominated for the Mercury Prize, and has received awards for Folk Singer of the Year, Best Live Act, Best Album and Best Original Song at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
On the brink of a quarter century of music making, Kate Rusby released her 14th studio album Life in a Paper Boat late last year to rave reviews.

Dragonfly Day
Dragonflies spend years as nymphs and only live for days or weeks on the wing – so keep your eyes peeled!
Dragonflies are the centre of attention for a special day at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
Join expert Deborah Sazer for a dragonfly and damselfly walk around the ponds, lakes and marshland of the Garden on 11th July.
There will be two walks, 12-1pm, and 2-3pm, both beginning at the main visitor entrance. Suitable footwear is recommended as the paths may be uneven and wet in places.
Parkland Restoration Tour
To find out more about Sir William Paxton’s fabulous historic parkland and get an update on the progress of our Regency Restoration Project, join Louise Austin, the Garden’s Heritage Officer, at 2pm this Friday ,at the Western Entrance of the Great Glasshouse for a two hour guided tour.
Terrain is uneven and can often be muddy; please wear sturdy footwear.
