The Cape pelargonium was used by Zulu people in South Africa to treat lung problems and before the advent of antibiotics, the roots of this plant were used to treat tuberculosis patients in the UK.
The flower has an intense blood-red colour.
It flowers in the South African section of the Great Glasshouse where we have several other Pelargonium species.
