One of of up to 50 varieties of daffodil in the Garden, this is usually in flower on March 17th, St.Patrick’s Day..
You can find Narcissus ‘St. Patrick’s Day’ daffodil and other daffodil varieties, growing in our Double Walled Garden, close to the Tropical House.
Like other ‘monocot’ plants growing nearby, daffodils have flowering parts in 3s and so have 6 tepals (their petals and sepals are indistinguishable so are called tepals), 3 stamens and they produce 3 seeds. You’ll find other daffodil varieties in our Wallace Garden too.
We are a charity that receives financial support from the Welsh Government.
We are extremely thankful to The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and all those who play the National Lottery, for supporting the Botanic Garden’s five-year landscape restoration project.
