Film of pregnant badger

Ardd Fotaneg · Botanic Garden

Wildlife watchers at the National Botanic Garden of Wales have their fingers crossed for a happy event this Christmas.

The weekly, volunteer-run Wildlife Patrol around the Garden’s 568-acre estate is a fixture in the calendar and always unearths something worth talking about. But now, movement-sensitive cameras in the Pont Felin Gat woods have captured what our experts believe to be a pregnant female badger.

The camera was set by one of our volunteer Wildlife Recorders, John James, and the expert opinion comes courtesy of retired excologist Jan Crowden.

The Garden’s interpretation officer Bruce Langridge said: “We are very excited about this. We are keeping our fingers crossed for a happy event.”
