Keep fit in the fresh air and beautiful surroundings

Have buggy, will travel. Why not join our happy band of Buggy Runners – every Tuesday at 10.30am

Lisa Evans is the leader of our Buggy Running group which is proving a big hit with parents and their children. Here she talks about the inspiration, motivation, natural endorphins and good company that taking part can bring

We are a buggy running group who meet weekly at The National Botanic Garden of Wales on Tuesdays.

The group started in September 2018 and is going from strength to strength.

Mums who can no longer attend the group stay involved through a ‘what’s app’ group so the support continues.

The group provides more than exercise and improved physical health, it has also formed into a support group which can give reassurance that other mums are experiencing similar situations. There is always a sympathetic ear or a motivational word to keep us going.

The babies also love being in the fresh air and usually fall asleep as we’re running.

We are very lucky to be able to run in such a beautiful location.

The group caters for all abilities and the words that are frequently used among the group are “inspiration” and “motivation”!

As fitness levels have increased some of us have completed Race for Life and local 10K races but we would relish the opportunity to train towards a half marathon as a team.

Some words from group members: “It was 100 per cent what I needed, natural endorphins and good company.” “The sessions at the Garden inspired me to get fitter and get back out running – such a fab group.” “Loved the catch-up and company.” “Brilliant run this morning. I’m going to miss it when I’m back in work.” “Awesome run this morning. I wish I could come every week.”

The group meets every Tuesday at 10.30am in the main car park. If you want to take part, send an email to info@gardenofwales.org.uk
