Glasswing butterfly

Visible now

Can you imagine having a see-through body?

What fun you’d have. Glasswing butterflies have see-through wings which help them to hide from predators. This camouflage helps them to survive the long migrations they make across Central America.

Their wings are made up of tissue which doesn’t absorb light. Glasswings also lack tiny scales which give butterflies and moths their colour.

Home Sweet Home

Each of our glasswing butterflies returns to the same branch every night

You can find this butterfly in Plas Pilipala.
