Month of Music

Ardd Fotaneg · Botanic Garden

There’s a Month of Music at the Garden in March with a rich array of performers starring in the stunning surrounds of Lord Foster’s Great Glasshouse.

There will be sounds galore every weekend through March and it kicks off on Saturday March 4 with performances by Carmarthen Ukuleles, the Steve Williams Trio and Caroline Harrison.

Carmarthen Ukuleles will bring their inimitable and colourful craft to your favourite songs when they take to the stage at 11am on Saturday March 4.

At 12.30 it is the turn of The Steve Williams Trio. Formerly Gypsy Jazz, they are a Swansea-based group playing a mixture of Latin, Swing, Ballads, the occasional ‘Hot Club’ number and many favourites from the Great American Songbook.

At 2pm, Caroline Harrison will sing and play guitar for us. Caroline is not only popular with Brazilian soap opera fans but also counted Sir Terry Wogan among her admirers. Other career highlights have been supporting Texas, Charlotte Church & touring across Germany with the band Livingston.

At 11am on Sunday, The Constellation Big Band are in action. They recreate the days of big bands with music from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton… and many more.

Count Basie is also an influence on The Swing Boyz who take to the stage at 12.30pm on Sunday (5th) – they describe their style a swing jazz-blues-bossa

Things get a little bit more choral at 2pm when the Singing for Pleasure WI choir stroll into the spotlight – promising a sweet harmony of special arrangements to round off this musical menu of delights.

Watch this space for more music in March.
