The official opening of the South Africa Fynbos textile panel

by

Friday the 18th of March saw the preview of the wonderful and amazing textile panel that the Stitching Botanicals group have created.

Over 125 people attended this launch, including members of Carmarthenshire County Council, local Community Councils, Carmarthenshire WIs and Merched Y Wawr. We were also delighted that David Bulbring and George Earle, Scarlet Players, born and bred in South Africa unveiled the South Africa panel. We were quite amazed at the number of South African expats living in this part of the world who attended this event.

Marilyn Caruana, Volunteer Coordinator of the Stitching Botanicals, received two bouquets of flowers, presented by George and David, for all the hard work she has done in making the Stitching Botanicals Team the success story that it is. Marilyn took her flowers and immediately started separating and gifting them to all the Stitching Botanicals members who created this incredible artwork together.

Thanks must also be extended to Jane Down, the Volunteer and Membership Officer, for the effort and time she put into organising this magnificently successful Preview Day.

Meanwhile, the Stitching Botanicals have already moved on to their next big projects; of which we’ll definitely keep you updated.
