The role has a strategic and operational role in the organisation, providing a comprehensive facilities management service across the site. It includes responsibility for buildings and other capital assets, security arrangements, and health and safety requirements. The role leads and manages a small and experienced facilities team.
Jamie took up appointment as the Head of Operations and Facilities of the National Botanic Garden of Wales in January 2014.
His military career spanned 24 years with the Royal Engineers, initially as a Combat Engineer, qualifying as a Military Electrician in 1992, and culminating as a Military Clerk of Works (Electrical) in May 2000 at the Royal School of Military Engineering. During this time he accumulated considerable experience in the UK, Nepal and Brunei and saw operational service in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.
After leaving the Army, Jamie spent time in the Estates and Facilities Management Department of Swansea University before joining the Garden.
