The Heritage Officer has specific responsibilities for delivering the heritage outcomes of the Regency Restoration project. This involves developing a variety of accessible interpretations and to facilitate Garden wide heritage events. The fundamental objective is to work towards placing heritage at the heart of the visitor offer and to identify, conserve, raise awareness and promote appreciation and enjoyment of the Garden’s rich heritage assets and resources, as a recreational, educational and volunteering asset and an integral part of the Garden’s sustainable development.
Kathryn studied archaeology at Cardiff University and holds a MA in Palaeolithic Archaeology and Human Evolution. Upon graduating she worked as a field, finds, and community outreach archaeologist in various places and for various companies throughout the U.K., Ireland, India, France, Oman and South Africa.
She worked on the Newport Medieval Ship as Environmental Community Archaeologist, as Archives Officer for U.K. Commercial Archaeology Units and most recently as Finds Archaeologist for Historic England.
She lived in Qatar for five years firstly co-running an inter-disciplinary international archaeological and marine project and subsequently as Curator at the National Museum of Qatar.
