This is a crucial, income-generating role within the Commercial Management Team supporting the Garden’s ongoing success.
Working proactively, both strategically and operationally, with a high degree of individual responsibility and accountability, the Head of Trading and Admissions is expected to maximise retail sales, turnover, margins, profitability and reputation of the Garden through developing and improving procurement, and management of the product ranges and retail business across the Garden.
The Head of Trading and Admissions is responsible for managing the retail areas of the Garden including the Gift Shop, Plant Centre, Art Gallery and E-commerce sales, setting and achieving high standards of customer service within the visitor services and retail teams while maintaining reputation and encouraging visitor enjoyment. The role also involves monitoring and responding to all visitor feedback to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained.
Lyndsey Harris-John joined the Garden as Head of Trading Admissions in September 2011 after a 10-year career with Boots the Chemist plc in Swansea, experiencing different levels of retail roles and following the Boots management training scheme to become a manager.
A business professional with a wealth of experience in the retail sector, she has led teams of people and developed them, arranging training, to successfully achieve company and personal goals.
