The Garden is a charity which is governed by a Board of Trustees. The position of trustee is voluntary and together their role is to support the Director in implementing the Garden’s vision and strategy.

Mel Doel spent 25 years as a broadcaster with the BBC covering news stories across Wales.

She  presented BBC Wales’ key rural affairs/environment programme Country Focus for 10 years. She was a Welsh Government-appointed member of the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority for eight years, and was elected to the role of Chair for the last three years and was Deputy Chair of  National Parks UK.

She was appointed by the Minister for Natural Resources to the working group which oversaw a review of Designated Landscapes in Wales. Mel runs her own business which make films for Welsh organisations, offers media and webcast training and conference facilitation.
