Pat O’Reilly MBE


The Garden is a charity which is governed by a Board of Trustees. The position of trustee is voluntary and together their role is to support the Director in implementing the Garden’s vision and strategy.

After 20-years in science and engineering, Pat O’Reilly moved to Wales in 1981, setting up a consultancy in opportunity management.

He has chaired Government policy reviews and strategy development committees; for 12 years he chaired Welsh Government’s advisory committees on fisheries, ecology, recreation and conservation, latterly serving as deputy chair of CCW (the Countryside Council for Wales).

Author of 30 books, Pat is co-director of First Nature Publishing, specialising in wildlife, ecology and countryside topics. His other interests include studying fungi, wildflowers and aquatic insects.
