Having spent the last 16 years, firstly as Director of Academic & Student Services and since 2017, College Director, Principal and COO of The College, Swansea University, Sharon has a long background in education. Sharon is also a member of Basketball Wales’ EDI committee.
Born in Swansea, Sharon has been a long-standing visitor at the National Botanic Garden since relocating ‘home’ to Wales in 2006. Her camera roll is testament to this – tracking her daughter and wider family through nearly 20 years of their and The Garden’s development. A passionate ‘home’ gardener, Sharon says she loves the beauty and inspiration that a visit to The National Botanic Garden always brings – nearly always coming away with ideas for planting and a feeling of being somehow restored. Her favourite garden spots are the willow archways as she harbours ‘overly optimistic aspirations to recreate similar at home one day!’, the awe-inspiring architecture of the Great Glasshouse and the more orderly Double Walled Garden. She says “You can really feel the sense of history and heritage in this space and the diverse abundance of plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables never fails to please”.
Sharon is looking forward to utilising all her personal and professional skills and experiences to serve as a Trustee, supporting and helping to shape the National Botanic Garden as it embarks on the next 25 years of its evolution.
