Susan Coffey

Head of Finance

Susan Coffey, Head of Finance, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a qualified Finance Trainer and Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Prior to joining the National Botanic Garden of Wales in December 2025, Susan has held a range of roles in the private, public and charity sectors, including Director of Finance and Engagement for a national social care charity, Commercial and Finance Director at the National Osteoporosis Society; BBC Divisional Financial Controller and Project Accountant at the Welsh National Opera.  In addition, Susan has held several trustee roles and is currently a Board Member for Be Science STEM a community interest company.

Susan participated in the Charity Commission Charities SORP review which contributed to the Charities SORP 2026 development, representing CIMA as an organisation engagement strand member participating in the Trustees and Smaller Charities and Independent Examination strands.  Since 2013 Susan has led the CIMA Southwest England and South Wales Charities Focus Group and has facilitated over 15 full day charity finance and governance training days and several webinars, championing technical, high quality and affordable charity finance training.
