Will Ritchie, Curator

Will Ritchie

The Curator is responsible for progressing the horticultural vision and strategy of the Garden, and for all arrangements associated with operational aspects and standards of the Garden; for staff management of the horticulture team; and for acting as advocate for plant conservation and all horticultural matters. The Curator is a member of the Senior Management Team.

Will Ritchie is no stranger to botanic gardens of note, his most recent position having been at Glasgow Botanic Gardens. There he had three national plant collections to nurture – begonias,
tree ferns and dendrobiums (orchids).

Before that, he did his fair share of globetrotting, having worked in Hot Springs National
Park, Arkansas, in the Oman Botanic Garden as well as in the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh. A native of Aberdeenshire, he specialised in taxonomy and genetics for his masters degree.

His interests include the Brecon Beacons, cycling and catching as many rugby matches as he can.
