Food Fair
Baking businesswoman and winner of The Apprentice Alana Spencer will begin her new, supercharged life as an Alan Sugar-endorsed mega-entrepreneur at the National Botanic Garden’s January Food Fair.
Alana will take her place in Lord Foster’s Great Glasshouse on Saturday and Sunday, January 21-22, along with a mouth-watering array of food and drink from other West Wales producers.
Event organiser David Hardy said: “There’s no better way to cheer up the very long, grey month of January than a food fair. And this will be a very tasty affair with very special sausages, the perfect tonic of a range of flavoured gins, meat, vegan food, vegetarian options and gluten free, too.
“Whether you have a thing for fudge, bacon baps, tapas, charcuterie or liqueurs, this is the place to be this weekend.”
Garden admission is just £3. The gates open at 10am and close again at 4.30pm (last entry 3.30pm). There’s no additional charge for the Food Fair and there is plenty of free parking for everyone.

Snowdrops and Daffodils
The early signs of spring are emerging in the Garden, with Snowdrops and Daffodils starting to appear.
As you drive into the Garden, you’ll notice a lovely display of Daffodils (Narcissus ‘early sensation’). Then, as you walk up the Broadwalk, you’ll notice an abundance of snowdrops near the Circle of Decision fountain.
Keep an eye out for them if you’re trying out our new ‘Fit For Free‘ walks!

Santes Dwynwen Day
January 25th is the day of lovers in Wales and what better way to celebrate than a stroll with your loved one around the National Botanic Garden?
And, as it’ll be a January weekday, entry to the Garden will be completely free!
So, whether it’s a romantic stroll along our necklace of lakes or a cosy coffee and cake in Y Pot Blodyn, the Garden will be the perfect place to spend your day.

Fit For Free
The Garden’s new ‘Fit For Free‘ trails are still proving to be a popular hit with visitors, with many taking advantage of the scenic routes, as well as FREE entry on weekdays!
We have created a series of trails around the Garden – some on flat paths to suit strollers, pushchairs and wheelchairs; and some more rugged, off-road routes around the estate, passing the waterfall.
What better way to try out your new fitness gadget, dig out and dust off that FitBit you were given last Christmas and clock up a serious number of steps?
The various trails are clearly way-marked and there’s a free map to
accompany you on your journey – the map is also downloadable if you want to check it out pre-visit.
And each route has a ‘cupcake’ rating that indicates the degree of difficulty.
If you can only make it to the Garden at the weekend, it’s not the end of the world because entry is only £3 on Saturdays and Sundays in January.
Doggy Day
This coming Monday will again see the Garden welcoming visitors and their four-legged-friends.
And, as it will be a January weekday, entry to the Garden will be completely FREE!
Dogs must be kept on a non-extendable lead at all times and, due to the rare and valuable plants and butterflies, are not permitted into the Butterfly House.
Due to popular demand the Garden has monthly Doggy Weekends planned for the upcoming months. And don’t forget, through the winter – every Monday is Doggy Day!
Welly Wednesday
Welly Wednesday features an hour of fun, outdoor activities, storytelling and exploring for pre-schoolers and is a great way for parents to get their toddlers close to nature with 60 minutes of fun in the woods with water and mud – whatever the weather!
Activities start at 11am from the Gatehouse and admission on every Wednesday throughout January is completely free!
