St David’s Celebration Day
We round off our half-term week of activities with a very special St David’s Celebration Day, on Sunday February 26th, in honour of our patron saint.
There will plenty of food, drink and crafts by local producers at our Welsh Craft and Food Fair, in the stunning surrounds of Lord Foster’s Great Glasshouse, as well as a programme of music from local choirs and singers, and traditional Welsh dancing.
Entry to this Celebration Day is FREE for everyone, so join us to celebrate our patron saint ahead of St David‘s Day on March 1st.
And don’t forget, from now until Sunday, the Garden has half-term activities on every day where we look at the stars, with special telescopes and various other astronomy activities as well as the rocket-making workshops. You will also have a chance to make your own trebuchet and find out why Dryslwyn Castle is in the state it’s in.
The Garden is open from 10am until 4.30pm every day through half-term and all activities and workshops are included in the Garden admission price.

St David’s Day
Following the Garden’s St David’s Celebration Day on February 26th, the Garden will also be celebrating on March 1st with FREE entry and music.
What better way to celebrate our patron saint than a visit to the National Botanic Garden? Visit the world’s largest single-span glasshouse, our new tropical Butterfly House and take a stroll around our necklace of lakes.
March 1st will also mark the beginning of the Garden’s Daffodil Month, the perfect time for a springtime walk among the drifts of daffodils – and we have thousands of them! There’ll be a handy trail available to collect from the Gatehouse which will help you identify the different varieties.
As St David’s Day falls on a Wednesday this year, it’ll be a very Welsh Welly Wednesday at the Garden! Welly Wednesday features an hour of fun and activities for pre-schoolers, and is a great way for parents to get their toddlers close to nature with 60 minutes of fun in the woods with water and mud – whatever the weather!
Activities start at 11am from the Gatehouse and entry will be free on this day. For more information, contact the Education Department on 01558 667150.
Doggy Day
This coming Monday will again see the Garden welcoming visitors and their four-legged-friends.
Due to popular demand the Garden now has monthly Doggy Weekends planned for the upcoming months. Don’t forget, through the winter season – every Monday is Doggy Day!
A full list of Doggy Day rules can be seen here. Dogs are permitted in Y Pot Blodyn’s coffee shop, the Seasons Restaurant, the Gift Shop and the main concourse of the Great Glasshouse.
Dogs are not permitted on the Great Glasshouse’s inner paths, the Butterfly House, nor the children’s play area.
