Gill now manages the finances at the Garden on a 3 days per week basis, operating at a strategic level as well as preparing the necessary financial information (accounts, budgets, policy) to advise the management team and Trustees alike. Since her appointment she has transformed the budgeting process and management information of the Garden whilst affecting several cost saving initiatives to reduce the fixed overheads of the organisation. She is also responsible for the day to day accounting records and in managing all the routine financial tasks of the organisation. Gill is also the Company Secretary to The Garden, accountable to the Board of Trustees for the statutory aspects of the organisation.
Gill qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1989 subsequently specialising in Corporate Recovery and troubled businesses, becoming a senior manager in 1996. In 2000 Gill left PwC to start her own practice providing strategic financial advice to a wide range of SME’s in West Wales. In 2003, Gill was asked to advise the Garden’s management in preparing the financial aspects of their recovery plans. Following this, Gill was a frequent consultant to the Garden, providing strategic and accounting assistance until her appointment as Head of Finance in January 2009.
