Tributes have been paid to former National Botanic Garden of Wales chair of trustees, Rob Jolliffe.

Mr Jolliffe headed the Botanic Garden board for 10 years from 2008. He stood down in May 2018.

Born in Mumbles in 1960, he was brought up in Brighton and went to Keble College, Oxford, where he read modern history.

After graduating, he moved to the City of London where he built an impressive career, which included senior positions at Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs.

Close friend and current Garden trustee Steffan Williams said: “He was a warm-hearted, generous individual. Rob joined the Board because he wanted to make a contribution to Welsh life and it is fair to say that his involvement has been significant.”

The Botanic Garden’s current chair of trustees, Gary Davies said: “Rob Jolliffe remained an ardent supporter of the Botanic Garden. Our thoughts are with his wife, children and many, many friends.”

Mr Jolliffe lived in Bath and is survived by his wife Jo and his children George, Emily, Charlie and Isabel.
