The Botanic Garden has been designed to be accessible to all visitors whatever their ability.

If you are disabled or have mobility issues, there are several options available to help you explore the Botanic Garden:
Wheelchairs
We have several wheelchairs at our visitor entrance, the Gatehouse, which are free to hire for the duration of your visit.
Shuttle Buggy Service
Our regular shuttle buggy service can take you to most parts of the Botanic Garden, including the restored parkland, and return you to the Gatehouse.
Mobility Scooters
We have five mobility scooters available to hire for £15, plus a refundable £15 deposit, payable on arrival.
To book a scooter, please call 01558 667148.
Please note: There are some restrictions on where scooters can be used within the Garden. Our team will provide guidance on arrival.
Changing Places Facility
There is a Changing Places facility near the Gatehouse. Changing Places are designed so that they are completely accessible and provide sufficient space and equipment for people who are not able to use the toilet independently. Please note, a RADAR key is required to access the Changing Places room.
Dogs
Apart from assistance dogs, dogs are only permitted to the Botanic Garden on Mondays and Fridays, as well as the first full weekend of every month.
Bicycles
For the safety of all our visitors, we do not allow bicycles or skateboards into the Botanic Garden.
Visitors to the Botanic Garden
This Garden is a very special place and covers 568 acres. While much of the site is served by wide flat, hard paths, some routes are more challenging. Some of the surfaces beyond the core Garden can be uneven, steep and slippery. We therefore advise that suitable footwear is worn.
Without limiting NBGW’s liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, NBGW cannot be held responsible should any injury occur.
