Discover & Grow – Summer Science SessionsWhat’s a Botanic Garden, Anyway?

It’s full of plants… but so is any park. So what makes a botanic garden special? This is your chance to find out.

Join Paul Smith, our Education Manager, for an engaging guided walk that unpacks the science, purpose, and hidden stories behind botanic gardens – from the role they play in plant conservation and research, to the living collections right in front of you. Whether you’re a teacher recharging over the summer, a student brushing up on your biology, or simply young and curious about the natural world, this session offers a genuinely eye-opening look at how gardens do far more than grow plants.

Along the way we’ll explore ideas like biodiversity, plant adaptation, and conservation – in a way that’s hands-on, outdoors, and genuinely interesting whether you’re 10 or 110.
