This year the event has been re-designed and will take in lots of new interactive fun elements and light installs along a new route around the Botanic Garden.
Immerse yourself in our mesmerising mile-long walk, with our stunning lighting elements and fabulous interactive light play, all set to ambient music. A timeless experience to be enjoyed by all, young and old alike.
The trail is open nightly from Wednesday 29th of November until Sunday 24th of December 2023.

Entry times from 4.30pm to 8pm
Entry slots are every 15 minutes and the trail will take approximately 60-90 minutes, depending on how long you dwell along the way.
We strongly advise you to arrive on time, if you miss your slot your tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.

I visited the Botanic Garden during daytime opening hours, can I use my ticket for Luminate?
No, a separate ticket must be pre-booked online to visit Luminate. No daytime entry tickets will be accepted.
I’m a Botanic Garden Member, do I get free entry to Luminate?
As this event is delivered by an external company, Members will not get free entry to Luminate and must purchase a ticket.
Will the gift shop be open?
Yes, the gift shop (Siop Botanica) will be open.
Will the trail be going through the Great Glasshouse?
Yes, the trail will be going through the iconic Great Glasshouse.
Can I bring my dog to Luminate?
Apart from assistance dogs, dogs will not be permitted to the Luminate light show, even if it is a ‘Doggy Day’ during daytime opening hours.
What food will be available at Luminate?
Café Botanica will be firing up the BBQ every evening and serving festive turkey, stuffing & cranberry wraps, gravy-soaked beef filled rolls & vegan hot dog rolls with roasted onions and sauce of your choice.
Café Oriel will be serving cawl cennin, a selection of sandwiches, cakes, mulled cider, hot & cold drinks.
At The Cwtsh why not treat yourself to one of our Winter Waffles. Choose from Kinder Bueno, Warm Winter Berry or Hot Chocolate Fudge.
Marshmallow roasting pits and Mulled Wine will be located on Millennium Square.
Will it be possible to use the shuttle buggy service or hire a mobility scooter?
It will not be possible to run the shuttle buggy service during Luminate. The trail will be suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and prams. To book a mobility scooter* please contact our Gatehouse team · gatehouse@gardenofwales.org.uk or call · 01558 667148.
