Members’ Day at the Botanic Garden

Join us this Members’ Day for a fabulous day of talks, tours and walks.

Activities include talks and tours from the Garden staff just for members to find out all about our plans for the future.

10am – 3pm ·  Meet ‘Huw the Farm’–  The Botanic Garden’s Farm Manager, Huw Jones who will have on display the Botanic Garden’s Welsh Black bull that grazes our National Nature Reserve and the organic meadows of our farm. Discover more about farming with conservation and biodiversity.  You will find Huw at the Circle of Decision which is half way up the Broadwalk.

10.15am – 11am · Meet the Director, Dr Lucy Sutherland with Q&As. This will be followed by tea/coffee and Welsh cakes.  To be held in Theatr Botanica.

11am- 11.45am · Underneath the Great Glasshouse – An underground tour with a member of our facilities team.  Meet at the western entrance of the Great Glasshouse.

11am – 12pm · Tour of the Science Centre to include the National Seed Bank of Wales and new Herbarium project –  An opportunity to see where our research begins and to discuss current projects.  Meet at the entrance to the Science Centre.

11.30am – 12.30pm · Stitching Botanicals Exhibition Tour  – Short guided tour of the current ‘Sew Far Sew Good’ exhibition. Meet at the Apothecary’s Hall.

11.30am – 12.15pm · In the Bee Garden with Martin Davies –  Pre-booked 30-min session for approx. 4 members per session.  Please book your slot on entry to the Garden at the visitor entrance. Members are welcome to watch!  Meet at the Bee Garden.

11.30am 12pm · The Future of the Boulder Garden Discover more about the new planting schemes.  Meet by the Mirror Pool at the top of the Broadwalk.

12.30pm – 1pm · Plants of the Great Glasshouse –  Explore the plants of the Great Glasshouse in this fascinating tour. Meet at the western entrance of the Great Glasshouse.

1.30pm – 2.15pm · Underneath the Great Glasshouse – An underground tour with a member of our facilities team.  Meet at the western entrance of the Great Glasshouse.

2pm – 3pm · Stitching Botanicals Exhibition Tour  – Short guided tour of the current ‘Sew Far Sew Good‘ exhibition. Meet at the Apothecary’s Hall.

2.30pm – 3pm · The FerneryA year after installation an opportunity to see what has evolved Meet at the visitor entrance.

2.30pm  – 3.15pm  – In the Bee Garden with Martin Davies –  Pre-booked 30-min session for approx. 4 members per session.  Please book your slot on entry to the Garden at the visitor entrance. Members are welcome to watch!  Meet at the Bee Garden.

10am – 5pmExplore the British Bird of Prey Centre – Entry is included with Botanic Garden membership with flying displays at 11.30am and 2.30pm (small additional charge).

 

There’s no need to prebook any of the tours except for the beekeeping sessions with Martin Davies. A map and timetable will be handed out on arrival.

Non-members are also able to attend any of the tours above.
