Middleton Folk – Explore our costume and embroidery exhibition inspired by people from the estate.
The completion of the five year Regency Restoration Project which has restored lakes, cascades, bridges and a waterfall has inspired a new exhibition.
A talented group of volunteers from the Heritage Costume Group, who are amateur dressmakers and who are passionate about their sewing, have been inspired to recreate costumes from the Regency period. The resulting works are based on paintings of the landscape which artist Thomas Hornor depicted in 1815. Discover more about this period through the costumes and learn more about how people, lived, worked and played.
Volunteers from the Stitching Botanicals group – a creative textile group – have created a display of portraits and silhouettes of characters, who were in some way connected with the history of this estate.
This Exhibition is open every day from 10am-6pm, in Theatr Botanica (opposite the Apothecary Hall).
We are a charity that receives financial support from the Welsh Government.
We are extremely thankful to The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and all those who play the National Lottery, for supporting the Botanic Garden’s five-year landscape restoration project.
