The tree bumblebee is a common bumblebee that is found in a variety of environments in spring and summer.
It nests high up, and it will even nest in bird boxes!
It is identifiable by its orange thorax, black abdomen and white tail. Queens, workers and males are all very similar in appearance, so it’s difficult to distinguish between them.
This is a relatively new species in the UK, as it arrived in 2001, but it has become very widespread!
Look out for them all over the Botanic Garden.
